Tommy Wirkola steps away from his typically fun style of filmmaking for this dark and tragic scifi. But a good director’s a good director and despite being maybe a little more predictable than it thinks, not to mention Glenn Close trying her hardest to derail he manages to pull off _What Happened to Monday_. Extra special props to Noomi Rapace who successfully plays not seven as advertised but **eight** different characters with virtually no overlap in characterisation.

_Final rating:★★★ – I liked it. Would personally recommend you give it a go._
I’m not aware if this is a remake but it does stand in debt to the dystopic sci-fi of the seventies. Decent acting by lead Noomi Rapace against herself(s) with good support from Willem Dafoe. Scenery is well made but uninteresting and the same goes for the action. It is a quite forced how disparate the siblings are and their individual characters may be in different colours but are only one sheet thick. The story of their upbringing would be a more interesting story than what we have here. Ultimately, it is a predictable thing this entire weekly affair.
If you were to go through my movie collection, you would find an eclectic mix of films. One of the most prevalent in the mix of genres & sub-genres, I have many that are post apocalyptic/futuristic dystopian world films. Its the kind of film I love exploring, as its a look at not only our possible future, but a look at ourselves now, and where we are heading should we continue down certain paths.

In the tradition of some of the great films like the classics Blade Runner, and Total Recall, to more modern tales like Equilibrium, and Children of Men comes What Happened to Monday.

Set in a future where food resources are drastically low due to overpopulation, a sinister organization responsible for implementing a one-child policy by taking all subsequent sibling to be cryogenically frozen until such a time when resources are enough to cover everyone.

Terrence Settman (Dafoe) finds himself in a rather precarious position with the birth of sextuplets, granddaughters, whose mother dies during labour. Naming them after each day of the week, he makes the dangerous decision of taking them all in to his care, raising them in secret, and taking all necessary precautions to ensure that they live in secret.

When the girls have grown to an age where he feels comfortable, and confident that they are aware of the dangers of the outside world, and the consequences of anything that could mean the secret being uncovered, he allows each girl to go out on the day after which they were named, ie; Monday on Monday, Tuesday on Tuesday, and so on, and so forth. The girls each live their day outside as one Karen Settman.

As is the case with any group of children, the girls exhibit an array of personality traits from shy and demure to outgoing and rebellious, with the rebel of the seven causing a uncomfortable, and lasting, consequence for the other six siblings when she goes out on a day that she was not designated to do so, and suffers a painful injury.

Fast forward some 30 years we find that the girls have grown to adulthood successfully in secret, and while inside they exhibit their own personalities, do their own thing, and keep their own interests, they work very well together maintaining the life of Karen Settman out in the world. This is largely down to nightly debriefings from the one who went out that day, so that the others are aware of their role to maintain their cover.

This all works perfectly until Monday doesn’t come home from work, leaving her sisters extremely worried about what could have happened to her, and Tuesday going blind to what is waiting for her outside, with no knowledge of the previous days happenings. It is now up to Tuesday and her sisters to figure out what happened to Monday.

The thing I love most about this film is it’s concept, its what I love about the genre in general, as a dystopian future story can lend itself to anything that can cause a dystopia to happen, over population causing implementation of restricted breeding, or emotions being banned so that people don’t fight, and cause war.

I also love the performances of Noomi, and Clara in the two stages of the girls’ lives, the seven nuanced personalities demanded such range from both to capture the essence of the seven sisters, but also the prime character of Karen.

What also impressed me about this film, is the way in which the seven different characters were juxtaposed in the scenes they were together in. In no way was this done cheaply, or nasty, and definitely did not come off cheesy.

Aneesh Chaganty’s Searching was enough to add its debutant director-screenwriter to my list of “filmmakers to follow closely”. Run solidifies Chaganty’s place in Hollywood as one of the most technically impressive directors working today. His undeniable talent allows him to effortlessly generate incredible suspense throughout the movie’s entire runtime, and his second feature-film is no exception.

Possessing the type of premise I enjoy the most in thrillers, Chaganty and Sev Ohanian’s screenplay is packed with excruciatingly long takes, filled with extremely tense dialogues, shocking developments, and a brutal amount of pain. All are enormously elevated by one of the most physically-demanding, emotionally powerful performances I’ve seen in the last few years: Kiera Allen, who uses a wheelchair for mobility in real-life, turns her acting debut into a genuine, realistic display of the challenging obstacles people with her condition have to overcome daily.

Sarah Paulson continues her trend of playing truly evil characters, and I advise her to keep following this dark path of phenomenal interpretations. Her interactions with Kiera are remarkably intense. Story-wise, even though the constant revelations are narratively shocking, most of the script’s developments are somewhat predictable. However, the “movie logic” problems stretch believability to a point beyond my limit, ultimately becoming one of those films people will either deeply enjoy or really hate depending on how nitpicky they choose to be.

I’m as moderate as I can be, and the truth is, I didn’t really think about these logical issues during the actual viewing. Having in mind Run’s brilliant technical attributes (notably Nick Johnson and Will Merrick’s editing, and Torin Borrowdale’s score), its two impressive lead performances, and its endless suspenseful atmosphere, I can’t help but recommend it to every fan of the genre.

I watched a lot of movies and it had been a long time (over the pandemic year/s) since I have seen such a gripping thriller involving a family. In Run, a mother and a daughter’s relationship starts to strain when the latter suspects her mother is doing ill on her. As you continue to guess what it might be, Run takes you by surprise. It delivers the goods and it keeps you hooked till the last second. Go, watch it already!

Fantastic Four Online Subtitrat in Romana – [1080p]

> Too slow and dramatised superhero flick, but acceptable.

I can’t say I liked the previous films and not this one. In fact, I kind of enjoyed watching this reboot. It was much better than what I have heard about it. At least it did not sound like a loud and lousy like any modern sci-fi flicks, chasing bad guys, bombing cities and downing buildings. But as a superhero and sci-fi film, it had its moment, only at the end.

Obviously the film was too slow and dramatisation was a backslash keeping the youngsters (audience) in mind. I actually expected hefty stunt sequences. Without actions, a superhero movie is like a limbless spider and toothless shark. If the web and tooth are the superpowers, then they must handle it quite smartly. So that is where this film failed to be a clever. This film had 4 superheroes and until the climax they were impotent. Which means the only superhero movie in the recent time that meant for older people. Precisely to say, if you are a 30+, you might enjoy it as I did. I know I can’t talk for you and what kind of movies you like, but I know todays youngsters who refuse dramas and accept action-adventures.

I agree it did not deliver as it should have been as a theatrical feature where surround speakers are ready to give us a breathtaking sound mix. I felt it some kind of a television episode. Because that is how the modern television series are presented. Personally, I would like to say that don’t mind my words and the review, because I usually enjoy all the films I watch. So this one was average to me, but definitely not a bad and I won’t slam it. Though I recommend it for old people who does not like modern high-octane stunts.

I just saw this and I wasn’t expecting much as I have read some really negative reviews about it online and elsewhere. Honestly, I think they were wrong. It’s not a bad film at all, just not as fast paced as the previous version which I quite liked too … mind you, I am 60+ so maybe that has something to do with it. A scifi/action film for the older generation perhaps? I really enjoyed it. I gave it 4/5 stars here.
I was actually not having great hopes for this movie giving how Hollywood have screwed up with a lot of my favourite super heroes (Spiderman, Fantastic Four, Dare Devil and a few others). Having said that maybe there was still a glimmer of hope given that some of their latest Marvel work have been rather okay. Unfortunately this is not the reboot of the Fantastic Four that I, and a dare say the fans, hoped for.

One thing that I do not understand is why the dumbass script writers that Hollywood employs always have to change the basic story of a set of characters that have a solid fan base? There was nothing wrong with the original story, and thus origin, of the Fantastic Four and the source of their powers. Maybe I am just old-fashioned but still.

The second gripe I have with this movie is the nonsensical stuff with members of the Fantastic Four, especially Ben, being deployed by the US military. It is just so cliché. Lazy script writing plain and simple. Unfortunately this also causes the movie to not really feel like it is a Fantastic Four movie. The team is split up and it is not until the very end that they actually become a team, gets a headquarter and so on. Big fail as far as I am concerned.

Having said all that, I do not think it is as bad as some people claim. There are some good stuff in there. The story is not all bad after all even though it is not exactly to my liking and the special effects are quite okay. One thing that annoys me with the story is that the role of Reed is really diminished and he is never really allowed to show of his powers. Yes, I know, there are some “stretching” moments but, well, meh! To add to the pain the actor cast as Reed is, in my mind, totally unconvincing.

The bad guy is also somewhat underwhelming and thoroughly predictable. As I said a classical Hollywood concoction aimed towards the less intelligent viewers. I do not understand why Hollywood seems to be so bent on repeating the same mistakes over and over again?

Well, as I wrote, the movie is not as bad as some people claim but it is far from great. Given the abysmal reviews I am afraid that we will not be getting a sequel which is a shame. This is one of the (few) Marvel comics that I read as a kid (in Sweden we did not get treated to that many of these kind of comics) so it is indeed a bit of a disappointment that they managed to screw this movie up…again.

**Possibly better than its predecessor, which is no small feat.**

Charming and hilarious, with more than enough jokes for the young and the old to enjoy. Hugh Grant is an excellent and highly comical villain, and the rest of the cast is jam packed with cameos from British notables. A very worthy sequel

I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed the first _Paddington_ and almost as surprised again by how much this one lived up to it as a sequel.

Good, but not great. A few, not many, funny lines. Best performance by Mckenna Grace. The best I can say is that it wasn’t a good movie but it wasn’t a bad movie either.
Extraordinarily conventional. It will surely appeal to devotees of this sort of thing, because it’s well acted and has some minor emotional impact, but with the exception of what essentially boils down to a gimmick, _Gifted_ is just like a hundred other okay movies that deal with the same subject in the same way.

**One’s fighting for the child and the other’s for her gift!**

Films about battle for child custody is a very familiar theme. There are lots of great films you could find. This is just another, but another great among them. There’s actually nothing special about it. It’s simple and emotional. The characters were slightly different, and agenda for courtroom drama is interesting aspect of the film.

A single uncle who is a by-default guardian for his niece since her mother had died. But the seven year old kid is a math prodigy like her mother. He wanted her to live a normal life like everybody else in her age. That’s what her mother wanted as well. When her grandmother learns about the gift, is now seeking a court intervene to provide all she needed to nurture her gift, since she’s very rich. So the kid caught between adult’s fight, how the rest of the narration folds are emotionally told.

I’m not a fan of Captain America, because he’s not the Captain Earth or Captain my country. Other than that, Chris Evans is not a big marketable star. But this was a pretty cool performance. The kid too was awesome. The last time I saw her was from ‘Mr Church’. Well written and directed. Easily one of the best drama films of the year. A good message film as well. Families should watch it.

_Gifted_ is a 2017 movie starring Chris Evans, Mckenna Grace, and Octavia Spencer and is a wonderfully sweet movie that tells the story of Mary and her Uncle Frank who live together due to the untimely death of Mary’s mother. Mary is not just any seven year old though, she is intellectually gifted and a mathematical genius. Frank wants to give her a normal life while others want her genius to be used to its full potential.

This was such a charming movie and I’d be lying if I said that there weren’t a couple of scenes that made me feel a little misty eyed. Mckenna Grace is absolutely adorable in this and acts her butt off throughout. The chemistry between her and Evans was so damn good – it’s this connection between the two of them and between them and Spencer that makes this movie such a joy to watch. There is a scene in a sunset with Evans and Grace and she is climbing all over him asking him a million questions, like kids do, and it was so perfectly natural, it was a pleasure to watch.

This is a really great movie, and while family dramas are nothing new, there was something just really nice about this movie. In amongst the drama there are some funny moments too, just enough to lighten things the right amount. Octavia Spencer has been a longtime favourite of mine, and she’s great in this but, for me I enjoyed seeing Evans do something other than Captain America. I wasn’t that fussed on _Knives Out_ so it was cool to see him do some proper dramatic acting.

I really enjoyed this, and with all the madness going on in the world right now, this was a story that really made me smile.

one of best boxing movie i ever watched…it’s a spin off to the original rocky series….Michael B. Jordan is perfect in his role…it’s maybe one of the Sylvester Stallone’s best performance till the date…the boxing scenes are really good….Ryan Coogler done a great job…must watch if u love boxing…

Honestly, I was looking for the 7th film in the ‘Rocky’ series, so this spinoff was totally unexpected. But it is the right thing since the Rocky Balboa is getting old. Besides, in this reboot era, keeping franchise alive and leaping into the next generation was a very smart move. By doing this, they’re keeping the original series fans with them to back it. I hope this will only get going like the Bond movies, since the young star, Jordan has another 30+ year potential to continue the ‘Rocky’ legacy by delivering some hits in his belt.

I don’t know how they have done it, just kept everything so simple yet delivered a successful movie. The director of ‘Fruitvale Station’ and its actor Jordan’s second successive run. I wish the combo return for the third time for another grand scale flick. Of course Stallone’s presence made a big difference, but the way his character was portrayed, I feel the next film will get more emotional, especially between Rocky and Adonis like Rocky and Micky. And I’m also hoping for a bit better romantic tale on the side.

I grew up watching ‘Rocky’ movies, so I wanted badly it to be at least a decent, but it is a fantastic flick and I definitely suggest for those people like me. The youngsters as well can taste the new beginning in the Rocky legacy. CREED is the new ROCKY. The blueprint for the screenplay was exactly same as the original movies, even the music was very comparable yet everything was updated to the current timeline. Now I’m looking for a follow-up in the next 3 years.

Так себе. Местами пафос просто прет наружу – даже противно смотреть. Сюжет вытянет из пальца, особенно не понравилось наличие больных в фильме: девушка музыкант, теряющая слух и рокки у которого находят рак. Если бы не фильмы про рокки, то я в принципе сомневаюсь, что фильм бы заметили.

I have no idea why people are raving about this film, it’s a bit crap, it’s probably Oldman weakest performance to date, and the cinematography is terrible. Churchill with Brian Cox in the lead role is a FAR superior film on the subject.
As with many of the biopics I’ve seen recently, _Darkest Hour_ is more focussed on delivering you the facts than getting you involved with the characters. It is an interesting idea to have the majority of the story revolve around the of whether or not to sue for peace. That as a core concept in so much as the question of “Do I take the guarantee of saving my country or do I take the risk of saving the world?” and beyond that “Is there even a right answer to that question? And who am I to decide something this big?” is a great philosophical centre for a movie. But I never felt like I knew why any of these people had the answers that they gave. I get that in a historical context, these aren’t characters they are real life people, so they answers they had are the answers we see, but again, we are only given the _what_, not the _why_.

Except you can throw all of that away because here comes Gary Oldman in his Oscar nominated transformation to make this movie 100% worth watching.

It’s 1940, and Hitler is attempting to take over Europe. The film takes an interesting look at Winston Churchill’s first five weeks as Prime Minister. The acting in this movie is quite accomplished; good actors bring insight and depth to the characters. Overall, it’s a well-done, engrossing film. Gary Oldman’s performance as Winston Churchill was very good indeed, and his delivery of Churchill’s speeches alone make watching the movie worthwhile!
I saw this film at TIFF on the big screen and loved it. There’s not a weak member of the cast. I really loved the way the photography reflected the sense of gloom that would have been felt by the people facing a new war. Big thumbs up, gives a strong sense of the time and place.
Gary Oldman was superb as Churchill.

I may take issue with Samara Weaving, but a fun movie’s a fun movie. End of story. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Robbie Amell in this, who in the past has always disappointed me. Those small praises aside, _The Babysitter_ is not exactly groundbreaking cinema, and while I certainly enjoyed having it on in the background to a certain degree, I didn’t get enough from it to say it’s outright worth your time.

_Final rating:★★½ – Had a lot that appealed to me, didn’t quite work as a whole._
The Babysitter is a fun, over-the-top horror/comedy, which will have very polarizing opinions, depending on the viewer.

I’m quite sure The Babysitter has some deep flaws. There are certainly some issues with the logic, probably anyway. Maybe the characters are a little one-note. The thing is, I was having way too much fun to care.

From the comic-book text overlays to the major twists and turns to the child-engineering-prodigy trope to the humor-gore, I really, thoroughly enjoyed this movie.

The tone started off as a comedy/coming-of-age story, but when it decided to delve into horror, it really delved into horror. It kept some of the comedic and coming-of-age elements, but from the first instance of horror on, it was without a doubt a horror movie, just a dang fun one.

I’d imagine this is a rather polarizing film. Either people will love some of the wackiness, or they’ll feel it gets in the way of what The Babysitter could be. From some people, there will be eye-rolling and snickering, and from others, there will be belly laughs and big smiles.

I highly recommend checking it out, but don’t go in expecting a serious movie, or you’ll be rather disappointed.
Great watch, would watch again, and do recommend.

This is surprisingly gruesome and self-aware, and is just filled with odd, but entertaining moments throughout the movie.

They do an excellent job of building atmosphere throughout the movie, mostly intensity of whichever situation is happening.

There is plenty of humor mixed in, and a great story.

The ending is admittedly a little iffy, but they clearly have some sort of plan in mind.
